Create your ClearCase UCM Developer Environments in a Click!
A question we are often asked by users is: "What is the difference between GoMidjets ClearEnv and the UCM Join Project Wizard"?
We'd like to answer this question:
ClearEnv is a new innovative product that replaces the "join project" utility while, at the same time, giving you much, much more.
GoMidjets ClearEnv's main purpose is to let your end-users (developers, team-leaders etc.) automatically and independently create their own environments (ClearCase streams and views) in a mouse click. This goal is achieved by using definitions that have been set up by the CM administrator.
ClearEnv consists of just two steps:
1. CM Administrator: The CM admin defines the properties of each project (dynamic / snapshot views, operating systems, methodologies, storage locations, extra scripts etc.)
2. End-Users: When new environments are necessary, users open "ClearEnv" on their own host, and all they have to do is choose their project. ClearEnv automatically does the rest - EVERYTHING!
Here are some of the things that GoMidjets ClearEnv can do for you automatically:
- Create your environments with any supported operating system: Windows, UNIX and Linux.
- Create cross-platform environments (No more using "region synchronizer").
- Create your environments with all 16 development methodologies over UCM.
- Integrate with the ClearCase Explorer dashboard.
- Integrate your environments with your scripts. For example: add private files into the views, automatically create a new activity, send an email message to the administrator and more.
- Integrate your environments with your IDE dashboard.
- Graphic interface and command-line interface to create environments for more than one project or user in one click!
- Supports storage locations of views and VOBs, terminal servers, NFS, Samba and 3rd-party NAS filers (NetApp, EMC).
